In March, artist Jaimie Crush made a rape allegation on Facebook against Aric Shapiro, an employee of the Generator artspace in Sparks. An internal investigation ensued. Shapiro was asked to resign, and he did.
As the editor of a news site that aims to cover the important issues in the art community, I’m obliged to discuss the allegation, the resignation, and the events and discussions that follow. However, I am too closely connected to this situation to report on it objectively or ethically. My husband, Jerry Snyder, is the Generator’s board president. This presents a clear conflict of interest.
For this reason, Double Scoop does not plan to report on this incident.
