Painting of Reno ReTRAC Mural to begin in June

Philadelphia artist Brad Carney and his team are slated to begin painting a mural on the ReTRAC Plaza in downtown Reno in June. Carney has worked with Mural Arts Philadelphia for 17 years and has created several large murals.
The mural will be painted directly on the ground and is expected to last for three years with minimal maintenance.

Applications to open in April for shuttered-venue relief funds

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that the application portal for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant, approved in December 2020, is expected to open on Thursday, April 8. Operators of theaters, performing arts organizations, museums, movie theaters and other venues impacted by the pandemic will be able to apply for a collective $16 billion in grants.

The SBA has launched a splash page, including an updated FAQ, with detailed information and will host a national informational webinar from 11:30 am to 1 pm PST on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Registration info here.

Nevada Arts Council releases $175,000 in relief grants to artists

The Nevada Arts Council has awarded 175 grants of $1,000 each to artists throughout the state. The Artist Relief Grant awards were available to eligible artists across all artistic disciplines who were impacted by the pandemic. Nearly 1,000 artists applied, and the selection process prioritized geographic diversity and underserved populations.

A second round of Artist Relief Grants may be awarded from the current pool of applicants, pending additional available funding. More info here.

RFQ issued for kinetic sculpture in Las Vegas

Clark County and the Public Arts Office have issued an RFQ for a kinetic sculpture in Las Vegas. The project is called Southwest Ridge Part 1. A pre-submittal conference will be held on March 30. The commission can be for up to $56,500. The deadline is April 19. More info here.
