Sierra Scott joins WESTAF staff

Sierra Scott from Reno has been hired as a grant specialist and part of the Expanded Social Responsibility and Inclusion Team at WESTAF, the Western States Arts Federation, an organization that funds and supports arts in the West.

Sierra formerly worked as a Grant Specialist for the Nevada Arts Council. She is also an experienced actor and casting director, and the Artistic Director/Choreographer of Wild Horse Stage Co. in Carson City.

 

UNLV to Participate in Arts-in-Prison Program

The College of Fine Arts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas announced in its newsletter today that it will participate in an arts-in-prisons program to bring arts courses and experiences to women who are incarcerated in Nevada. The program is a partnership with the State of Nevada Office of Workforce Innovation.

 

Modern Desert Markings Symposium posted

Nevadans for Cultural Preservation posted the Modern Desert Markings Artist Symposium on YouTube last week. The symposium was held online on June 8 and led by Rayette Martin, executive director NVFCP and Katie Hoffman and Hikmet Sidney Loe, curators of the related exhibition Modern Desert Markings: An Homage to Las Vegas Area Land Art. The exhibition is on view at the Barrick through July 8.
