ARP Grant for individual artists still open
The Nevada Arts Council still has American Rescue Plan funding available for performing, visual, literary, and media artists 21 and over. Grants are $1,000 for projects such as exhibitions, performances, readings, concerts, and the creation of art. More info here.
Sierra Arts’ Student Grant open
Sierra Arts’ Student Grant is open. High school seniors and college undergrads who live within a 200-mile radius of Sierra Arts are eligible for $1000. The application deadline is Feb. 28.
UNLV MFA applications closing soon
Applications for UNLV’s MFA program are due Feb. 2. The guidelines read, in part, “The three-year Master of Fine Arts is studio-based and research-focused with an emphasis on interdisciplinarity, community engagement, and professional development. Each MFA student is provided with private studio space with 24-hour access. … Our MFA Art alumni exhibit, curate, write, teach, and work in leadership roles in cultural institutions and as small business owners.”
The art department encourages all applicants to apply for a Graduate Assistantship, which is awarded based on applications and portfolios. It includes tuition waivers, stipends, and health insurance. More details here.
Burning Man ticket sales announced
Burning Man announced ticket release dates this morning on The Burning Man Journal at the following levels:
- FOMO Sale tickets—intended to help subsidize lower-priced tickets and art grants—go on sale Feb. 2 for $1,500-2,500.
- Ticket Aid Program tickets for low-income Burners go on sale March 16 for $225. There will be 5,000 tickets available at this level.
- Stewards Sale tickets, formerly called Directed Group Sale tickets and earmarked for groups and camps, will be $475. These tickets will be on sale March 9-11 and involve require advance preparation starting Feb. 23. (More info here.)
- Main Sale tickets will go on sale in late March for $575.
Art admin job open in Henderson
The City of Henderson has a full-time Visual and Public Arts Coordinator position open. Duties include coordinating art installations and receptions, facilitating murals, sculptures, banners, utility boxes, and other art, and establishing programs for Health Arts, Therapeutic Arts, and Mental Health Art Programs.
Basin + Range Exchange applications closing soon
Applications for the Nevada Arts Council’s Basin + Range Exchange, which promotes collaboration between rural and urban arts and culture groups, are open through Jan. 31. The program involves a three-day gathering in Tonopah April 18-20, a Target of Opportunity Grant, and other activities through June 2023.
