Peter Whittenberger in Denver digital festival
Reno artist Peter Whittenberger will participate in the free, outdoor digital art festival Night Lights Denver, a pandemic-era-friendly offshoot of the Supernova Digital Animation Festival. Animations by Whittenberger and six other artists will rotate nightly, projected onto exteriors in downtown Denver’s Theatre District.
Diane Bush’s merkin series acquired by Buffalo NY art center
Las Vegas artist Diane Bush’s satirical assemblage series “Make a Merkin Geat Again” was acquired by the Burchfield Penney Art Center in her native Buffalo, New York. The series consists of 25 merkins (one for each of Donald Trump’s sexual accusers) made of cat fur and ribbon, displayed in wooden frames that resemble flag display cases.
UNLV art dept. launches 6-episode talk show
Students from UNLV’s art department, along with Los Angeles art duo Beck + Col, launched an online talk show, ART TALK Talk talk, on July 22, modeled after classic late night shows like The Tonight Show. Guest artists include Jennifer Moon, Trulee Hall, Andres Payan Estrada, Pau Pescador, Alicia Piller, Aurora Tang, Michael Fong, Kay Leigh Farley, Tiffany Lin, Sapira Cheuk, Jung Min, Wendy Kveck, Erik Beehn, Laura Brennan, Yasmina Chavez, Emily Sarten, John McVay, Aaron Cowan, Erin K Drew, Keeva Lough and Lyssa Park. Nick Kochornswasdi co-hosts. A new episode will be released every Thursday through Aug. 29 on the College of Fine Arts YouTube channel.
