FORGOTTEN ARTIFACTS” a group show of cast metal sculptures CORE CONTEMPORARY, Las Vegas, NV, May 27, 2022 – July 22, 2022 CONTACT: Nancy Good (702-805-1166)

Core Contemporary is pleased to present “Forgotten Artifacts”, a group show celebrating the talents of popular cast metal sculptors in the LasVegas Valley, features Ross Takahashi, Emily Budd, Chris Bauder, Eric Pawloski, and select student artists.

Cast metal art is often connected to antiquity and the documentation of past events,  peoples, and forgotten histories. As civilizations fall, often the metal shapes they leave  behind remain as evidence for understanding how they interpreted the world. “Forgotten  Artifacts” investigates what this collection of contemporary sculptors wants to leave  behind from the anthropocene, as they explore what cultural, societal, ecological,  political, religious, and/or artistic views they want to leave behind to ultimately emerge as artifacts as the eons pass.

“What excites me most about this show,” shares gallery owner/curator, Nancy Good, “is  that an exhibition devoted solely to the art of foundry and metal casting is a rare  occurrence in Las Vegas. I’ve long been a fan of many of these artists and have always  been left wanting more when I get to view a piece or two in other local art exhibitions.  I’m also fascinated by the juxtaposition of the hard physical labor and dangerous  materials in the creation of work that is often quite delicate and sensitive.”

The exhibition runs May 27th through July 22nd, with an opening reception on Friday,  May 27th from 6:00-8:00pm. There will also be a closing reception on July 22nd, from 6- 8pm, with an artists’ talk still to be scheduled.
