Snapshot: Culling Our History from the Family Album
Snapshot: Culling Our History from the Family Album is presented in partnership with the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) University Libraries Special Collections and Archives. Snapshot is co-curated by Peter Michel, Interim Director of Special Collections and Archives, and Aaron Mayes, Curator for Visual Materials.
Family albums are often treasured heirlooms preserving memories passed from generation to generation. But for Las Vegas historians, the albums that have made their way to Special Collections and Archives in the UNLV University Libraries hold much more than the faces of past residents. They provide a window into the past and a glimpse of family and social life in historic Las Vegas. These photographs have become the basis for how we visualize our city’s history.
